Little Yegor Kozoroda needs your HELP!!!

Our son is suffering from hemophilia.

Hemophilia is a disease caused by a deficiency of the blood coagulation plasmic factor. The factor is the most important component in the system of blood coagulation. Bleeding, including internal muscle and joints bleeding , is Hemophilia's worst manifestation.

Hemophilia patients, who do not get preventive treatment, acquire chronic ossification of joints and muscle rupture (myorrhexis) which may confine them to a wheel-chair for life.

Hemophilia abruptly came into our family. Our 20 months old son (Yegor Kozoroda) was diagnosed with Group B Haemophilia (a deficiency of blood coagulation plasmic factor IX).

Since there is no cure for this severe form of the illness, all we can do is to help him to live with this disease by easing his suffering and to let him live a full life.

Unfortunately, not everything is up to us.

Preventive treatment of Haemophilia requires weekly injections of plasmic factor IX. The medication is very expensive and the Ukrainian government does not provide funds for the treatment. Yegor requires 200 MU (micro units) of plasmatic concentrate per week. The cost of a single injection is $100 (almost as much as an average monthly salary in Ukraine). The cost for yearly course is $5200.

As time passes, Yegor's condition will worsen as his weight will increase. In 8 years to keep the factor-IX-level sufficient to avoid internal muscle and joint bleeding, a 10-year-old boy, with the weight over 30 kg (66 Lb) will require a weekly dosage of not less than 600 MU of plasmatic concentrate. This will cost about $300 weekly and $15600 yearly.

We are a typical Ukrainian family with 2 children. The father (Aleksandr Kozoroda) is the sole bread-winner of the family. The mother (Natalia Vartanyan) devotes all her time and efforts to caring for Yegor. We do not have sufficient funds to provide our son with all the required medications and treatment. It is for this reason that we are applying for your help.

Dear madams and sirs! Our hope for Yegor is that he will be able to go to school, play with other children, grow and enjoy as normal a life as possible, given his illness. We need your help for Yegor to achieve these simple goals.
